The new EXP-1050 tester can achieve testing batteries in-vehicle, also on the new Ford platforms. Instead, there is an extra cable fitted from the hidden minus terminal to the chassis. With the introduction of the EUCD and C-Car platform (S-Max, new Mondeo etc.) the Micro 390 battery tester is no longer suitable for diagnostics of future vehicles, because batteries are fitted in such a way, that the minus terminal of the battery is not accessible anymore. Since 1997 the Micro 390 battery tester has been used by Ford dealers in order to test batteries and to produce a warranty test code.
